Universal Optical Cables ГЕРДА-КОУ are designed for digital signals transmission at a lining in the main, local and intra-zone communication lines, as well as to connect electronic devices with the possibility of simultaneous use of digital and analog signals.

Application and design features of the cable are shown in Table 1.

For the cables are used different types of single-mode and multimode optical fibers, according to GOST R 52266-2004 (see. Table 2).

Tight buffer coating (tight buffer) of optical fiber provides a fiber strength, serves as a damping element (absorbs shock) and provides additional environmental protection for a fiber. The characteristics of the optical fibers in a tight buffer coating are presented in Table 3.

The cables are manufactured as of modular, tubular design and an optical cord.

The number of optical fibers in cables of modular design - from 2 to 144, in cables with a central tube and in optical cords - from 2 to 12.

The colouring while coating of optical fibers and optical modules allows unequivocal definition within the mounting process (see. Table 4).

ГЕРДА-КОУ cable may be manufactured in a combined design - when in one cable the electric energy (by the conductors) and optical signals (via optical fibers) are transmitted. Optical fibers may be combined with any cable of "Cable" Gerda system". The usage a combined design cable saves on cabling.

The fire safety index and working temperature of cables, depending on a insulation and jacketing material, are given in Table 5.
